DAY 111 MONDAY JULY 13 - HELLO OLIVERA

Breakfast at the Belgrade City Hotel was very good and outside was this little waterfall.

We went for a walk around the big block and saw buildings that were used by the army and damaged in 1999.

Then we saw the changing of the  guard outside the President's "Cabinet"

.

The train to Novi Sad was pretty full but was on time and Olivera Colless was waiting for us on the station and gave us a big hug.  She put us in a taxi and in no time we were meeting her daughter Tanja and son Igor at their apartment.  We had a chat to Philip on Skype and passed around presents we had bought on our way.  A big lunch was put on the table,

followed by pavlova and lamingtons.  Igor played Walzing Matilda on the hurdy gurdy to set the mood.

Olivera took us into town on the bus and we saw the Catholic Cathedral.

There were many stalls and this one was where Olivera bought her wedding dress.

We strolled through a shady park where a groom was holding the fan while the bride posed.

Then on to the Danube River where we sat opposite the Fort.

We crossed the bridge and climbed up to the Fort, taking our time to walk around it.

The view of the town included the typical River Cruise Ship.

The clock on the fort is known as the drunken clock because the hands are reversed in size.  This was ten past five.

Olivera had reserved a table at the restaurant where she and Philip had their wedding breakfast and after a delicious dinner she brought us back in a taxi.

A very lovely day getting to know Olivera and family.
