The Indian Ocean has been fairly calm, causing slight pitching. This ship has underwater stabilising wings which extend out about 5 metres and paddle up and down to counteract any rolling motion.
We were both well enough to walk around the deck several times, as well as up and down the stairs four times. To get to our breakfast restaurant we walk 200 meters along the corridor at our level, then down 166 steps. A good workout. In several places around the ship there were impressive displays of Easter eggs.
A few hot cross buns were available. The deck chairs on the north side were popular when the sun was shining.
There was a protestant Good Friday Service this morning in the Royal Theatre, taken by an Anglican minister. Our friend Judith went. We decided to attend a lecture by an Englishman on the Burke and Wills expedition and the building of the overland telegraph. He spoke very quickly about MacDouall Stuart then told us the telegraph followed the route of Burke and Wills! He had some good slides but his narrative was very superficial and he finished in half an hour. Quite disappointing. We went along hoping to learn something new, but it did not happen.
At noon the dixieland band processed around the third and second levels, playing "When the saints come marching in" and picking up a large following.
Carolyn wore a flamboyant dress for Carnival Night dinner and Judith was not talking to her, so we had two separate conversations at the table. Hope they sort it out. We went out on deck and enjoyed the Easter full moon. We met in Bowral under the Easter full moon 56 years ago.
