DAY 9 - THURSDAY APRIL 2 - FREMANTLE

We got up at 5am and watched the ship berth at 5:30 at Wharf F in Fremantle.  It tied up opposite a container ship.  In 1997 we had boarded another container ship called "Romance" in that same spot.

We watched a bunker boat pulling alongside to refuel the Queen with bunker oil, ready for its trip to Africa.

Then we went ashore early to beat the rush and walked over the railway footbridge to King's Square, where we found free Wifi and were able to post photos on our earlier blog days.  We made contact with our Bibbulmun friend Pam by mobile phone and arranged to meet her at the station.

While we were waiting we saw the Pied Piper of Hamelin playing his flute, followed by three rats. We saw some clever bike stands.

We did some business in the old Post Office.

The station was right next to the QM2.

 Pam arrived at 10:15

and took us to the "Cappucino Sector"  and we settled into the Dome cafe.
We had so many stories to swap, time just flew and we gave her a goodbye hug four hours later.
Her husband Ken, who was with us on our trip in 2012, was at work in Beverley, so we sent him our love.

We climbed back on board at 3pm and relaxed in the buffet for an hour. When we returned to our room we were able to watch the second half of "Les Miserables" on our TV.

After dinner we listened to the wonderful string quartet in the Grand Lobby for an hour, then came back to our room to watch the first half of "Les Mis".  We are both on the mend today.
