DAY 38 FRIDAY MAY 1 LAST CONCERTS

At 10am Dan Wilkins, the astronomer from Halifax told us about our own solar system and why Pluto is now a dwarf planet only.  After that Ian Brown brought us up to date with the criminal Kenneth Noye who murdered a stranger in a road rage incident and is due for release this year after serving 16 years.  He paid for the best barristers and pleaded self-defence, but was found guilty this time.  At 12:30pm we listened to the steel drum band Vibz by the pool,

then went to the final concert by Zeitgeist.  Angelika Low-Beer plays the violin and Marina Lieberman plays the piano.   Heavenly music.  We had dinner in our formal outfits with Carolyn and Judith and said a fond farewell for their enjoyable company on the trip.  There was a parade of the chefs in their high hats to the accompaniment of the Radetzky March and we were told they average 15,000 meals per day.

We finished the day with a 3D film of Madama Butterfly by the Royal Opera.  Butterfly lost her son at 3 years old and it made us feel for Carolyn as she had lost a daughter at 3 in very trying circumstances.

The quality of the entertainment we have had on this ship has been superb and we will miss it next week.  BUT, we will be back on board for a week from August 11.
