After breakfast we went to look at the memorial to the Oxford Martyrs which was erected in MDCCCXV, paid for by public donations. Another blot on the church's copybook.
We caught a Cross Country train to Stafford and a Virgin train to Liverpool. We found the Lord Nelson Hotel, right next to the station and it turned out to be very satisfactory. Next task was to find the Steam Packet departure wharf for the Isle of Man. The receptionist Kay was very helpful and gave us a google map printout to follow. We took Eliot Street from the Station and continued along Church Street, which did not have any churches that we could see, but was car free and crowded with carefree people shopping and enjoying the fresh air and the entertainment from buskers and balloon sellers. Banning cars from the middle of the city transforms the atmosphere dramatically.
This man had a technique for busking we had never seen before.
The waterfront area was very nicely landscaped and pleasant to walk along. Rather like Cape Town. There was an exhibition of Beatles photos and a visual museum which had this collection outside.
This craze with rubber ducks is getting out of hand.
