We caught a taxi to Dock 4 and were excited with the approaching view of our grand lady of the seas. They claim it is the only true Ocean Liner now, it is not a Cruise Ship. It is built with more steel than any other passenger ship and is the only one doing the North Atlantic Crossing regularly.
It took an hour to get to our stateroom but everything went smoothly even though we had no luggage labels and no ticket. They told us we had been upgraded to a room on level 6 (instead of 10) which has a window with a view over the grand lobby, but no exterior view. We are now gold members on board and get 4 hours of wifi for free across this week. There will not be as many stairs to climb this time and we managed to haul our own luggage up the stairs from level three.
At our dinner table we met two sisters from New Jersey and an English couple from a town near Rugby in Northumberland. We had a pleasant, varied conversation and a wonderful meal of leg of lamb with mint sauce.
It was nice to unpack and know we are settled in our room for a week, looking forward to the daily entertainment. Last night was a song and dance show by the onboard professionals.
