DAY 142 THURSDAY AUGUST 13 - QUIET DAY AT SEA

Another day of eating, sitting and listening.  Malcolm went to the computer centre three times for classes on iPads and Facebook and a personal session with the tutor to try to work out why our storage disk is full.  He is trying to solve it for us. He never got back to us.

Lyn attended a talk on Pirates of the 16th and 17th centuries.

In the afternoon we watched a production of Midsummer Night's Dream by six actors from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

While Lyn had a haircut at Canyon Ranch, Malcolm went to a talk on asteroids in the solar system.  So far 154 have been identified as travelling close to earth and one of those will be passing under our satellites soon.  It is 100,000 years since a large comet (Mexico)  hit Earth so we are due for another one on past averages.  The Scottish astronomer, John MacLean, told us about the large asteroid that passed unexpectedly a couple of years ago and was big news immediately in the UK but was missed by NASA because they were all eating turkey dinners for Thanksgiving.  The American astronomers were embarrassed to read about it in the newspapers.

Turkey was on the menu for dinner and Elaine from New Jersey explained to us that it is the biggest family event of the year in US.

After dinner we watched the second best movie about the Exotic Marigold Hotel.  Well worth the two hours to watch Dame Maggie and Dame Judy do their stuff.

Finished the day in bed watching the second half of Les Miserables on TV and put our clocks back an hour for the second time of the voyage.
